It would be an understatement to say we have seen a lot of change in the last few months. To be truthful, we probably haven’t seen the end of it. There also seems to be a lot of change for individuals too. People making decisions about what they really want to be doing and who with. The last few months have allowed that time to think about things.

I am also making changes, both personally and professionally. The obvious observation is that those decisions affect each other. My personal decisions affect the professional life and the professional decisions affect the personal life. We talk about work life balance like it is two separate lives, yet it is one life. One life where we should be presenting our best self whether we are in a professional context or personal context.

A major change for me has been to decide to let something go. Something I don’t particularly enjoy and essentially conflicts with my values and my purpose. It has had its time and place but now it needs to belong to somebody else. When you get to a point where you are avoiding your responsibilities it is time to give it to someone who will give it the commitment it deserves.

The other change I want to continue to maintain will take some work. It will take vigilance and constant awareness. It is something I have heard others talk about as well. Living without ‘the chaos’. The constant going from one thing to the next. The rush. Some of us have realised we don’t have to be totally busy all the time. Although, I am always occupied. There is always something to do but it really should be experienced at the time not gone in a blur.

Time will tell whether these changes have been for the best or not. Also, whether they have been retained. Time goes by fast and waits for no-one.

What changes are you making? Are they considered and structured or have they simply evolved?
